Now that the 2010 Census results have been received, Milwaukee County has begun the process of redrawing the lines for the County Board of Supervisors. The Redistricting Committee asked the citizens who attended their first hearing last week to bring suggestions, ideas, and/or maps to the next meeting (to be held this Friday at 4pm at the Washington Park Senior Center). Hence, here is my proposal for the re-draw, one that creates districts that are compact, contiguous, and make sense when looking at the population and demographics of the community while also addressing the ability of communities of interest to elect candidates of their choosing.
